On November 8, New Jerseyans will have an opportunity to vote on an amendment to the New Jersey constitution that would mandate that all revenue raised by the state’s motor fuel taxes be dedicated solely to the Transportation Trust Fund for maintenance and upgrades to the state’s transportation infrastructure.
I am urging everyone to vote yes on this ballot question.
This amendment is a common-sense safeguard against any future attempts by lawmakers to raid funds from the Transportation Trust Fund for non-transportation purposes. This is especially important now that a new law was recently enacted that will increase the gas tax by 23 cents.
